Since I have been working from home doing freelance work, I feel like I should be “pulling my weight.” I’m not saying working from home is easy or hard, but personally, I feel I should be doing more since I’m not out in the corporate world.
Every day, the dishes are cleaned and put away, the house vacuumed and dusted and the laundry is to a bare minimum (I like to do full loads). Dinner is made at home, kitchen (re)cleaned and coffee and lunch is prepped for the next day. Still… I feel like I need to do more.
As a result of this feeling, today I woke up and decided to weed eat the front yard. With all the rain we have had, it is getting out of control. On the weekends, we usually do yard work (there is so much of it), but this past weekend we didn’t get to weed eating; we were burning old cedar tree cuttings instead. Why not mow the yard? Because we don’t own a lawnmower. Waylon wants to buy a riding lawnmower one day, but until then, our option is weed eat. Plus, we don’t really have grass, we actually have weeds.
I’m not talking about an electric weed eater either. I’m talking a gas, Echo GT 225! (I had to go look at the model haha) My first few tries after pulling the wing knobs to start it, I didn’t have it in the right “start” mode. I thought I would never get it started. But, I got into a rhythm and after holding this thing for awhile, your arms start to go numb! I was on a mission though. I wanted to surprise Waylon that:
1. I know how to use the Echo GT 225 and not afraid to
2. I actually used it and did the whole front yard! (and didn’t break it)
After 2 1/2 hours, I completed my mission. Do you think I called it quits for the day? Nope. I swept the porch, watered plants, took a shower, got ready for the day, did a load of laundry, checked and responded to emails, did the meal planning for the rest of the week and blogged! All before 3pm.
Do you think he will notice any of those things I have listed? Or do you think he’ll come home and ask, “what did you do today, honey?” He better sit down and listen because today, I pulled my weight!
I am invincible!
I am strong!
I am woman!
